Pre-Conference Doctoral Course, March 9th, 2011: We are pleased to announce a pre-conference doctoral course on transdisciplinary narrative theory. The course will be directed by John Pier, Université François-Rabelais de Tours and CRAL (CNRS/EHESS), and Per Krogh Hansen, University of Southern Denmark. Ph.D. students working on any text type with narrative relevance are eligible to participate. Prospective participants are asked to send 2- to 3-page descriptions of their Ph.D. projects to pkh@litcul.sdu.dk. Please write "ENN Conference: Working with stories: Doctoral" in the subject line. The deadline for submissions is October 18th, 2010. The doctoral course is arranged in cooperation with The Hans Christian Andersen Graduate School, University of Southern Denmark.
The course consists in two parts:
1. On March 9th (the day before the conference) Professor John Pier, Université François-Rabelais de Tours and CRAL (CNRS/EHESS), and Professor Marianne Horsdal, University of Southern Denmark, will give lectures on transdisciplinary narrative theory. Each lecture will be followed by discussion.
2. Ph.D. students accepted for the course are asked to hand in a 7- to 10-page paper two weeks in advance of the conference. The paper can be a chapter from their dissertation, an article they are working on or a presentation of their project. The only requirement is that the text relate to narrative and narrative theory. During the conference there will be a special time slot for discussion of Ph.D. students’ papers. Each student is given 10 minutes to do an oral presentation. This is followed by 20 minutes discussion of the paper and a presentation in plenum.
Ph.D. students completing the course will receive a diploma. The course counts as 2 ECTS.
Price: The course is free of charge, but participants will need to pay the conference registration fee (DKK 1000/ € 135) to attend.
