The Future of Feminist Narratology - October 12, 2013

Speakers: Marion Gymnich, Sue Lanser, Kathy Mezei, Ruth Page, Maria Tamboukou, Robyn Warhol

Poster Future Feminist Narratology    This project funded by the British Academy, seeks to review feminist and queer narratologies. In the 26 years since Sue Lanser's founding paper, "Toward a Feminist Narratology," 'classical' narratology has been largely replaced by models that are more attentive to ideological and contextual elements. However, the pluralist world of 'postclassical' narratology seems to favour cognitive, transmedial or culturalist narratologies that are indifferent to gender and sexuality. The symposium will open up a dialogue between key North American and European narratologists about the state and future of feminist narratology, considering the national characteristics and context of different narratological trends.

There is no charge, but places are limited.
