Narratological interest

I am based in the School of English in Sheffield; my chief interests are in narrative theory both in regard to fictional literature and also how it affects our readings of autobiographical texts. I also have an interest in digital storytelling, and how this form of narrative may differ from, or complement text-based narrative.  My PhD was on first-person narratives of 'mental illness', and I continue to have a strong interest in the narrative representation of extreme experience; the limits of narrative; narrative and trauma; and also narratives as they are lived out in the world.
