Narratological interest

While teaching Text Analysis and Interpretation after my return from the USA, I applied Narratological concepts for studying English and American short stories. My post-doctoral research focuses on the description of V. Nabokov's value system embedded in his fiction and related to different fictional instances such as characters, heroes, narrator and the implied author (W. Schmid) with their hierarchy in telling the story and being responsible for its sense. I resorted to M. Bakhtin's axiological literary theory as the starting point in my research and by means of his concept of the "axiological/value horizon" (in Russian - krugozor) I try to discover the intercommunication of fictional points of view. I hold that the implied author's value system always causes a value perception of the text through a carefully balanced system of factors determining a narration itself.
