The Narratology Research Group at the University of Pécs, Hungary

The Narratology Research Group (Narratológiai Kutatócsoport) at the University of Pécs is quite a unique place in this field in Hungary. Institutionally, since its establishment by Professor Beáta Thomka in 1996, the Research Group is part of the Doctoral School of Literature at the University of Pécs. The Group functions as a loose association of scholars and has opened up to young researchers interested in narrative studies.

Research activity in the Department of Theory at the Institute of Czech Literature (Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Prague) is carried out both in the form of individual projects by members of the Department and within the framework of collective tasks, extending and complementing Institute-wide research projects. Systematic study of narrative belongs to the Department’s most significant undertakings over the long term.
